World premiere of Zillah Myers’ Hymn
The Addison Summer Concert ‘From Madrigals to modern’ sees the Oratorio and Chamber Choirs combine to perform a wide range of music, much of it inspired by words or music from different folk cultures or celebrating the joy of singing. A highlight of the evening is sure to be the world premiere of the second piece the Addison Singers have commissioned in memory of a much missed past member – Cathy Bereznicki. Even more special is the fact that this new piece has been written by our own Zillah Myers, a member of both the Oratorio and Chamber Choirs. Zillah has chosen to set an uplifting text by (appropriately enough!) Joseph Addison, that concludes with the lines – ‘In Reason’s ear they all rejoice/And utter forth in glorious voice/For ever singing as they shine, Thy Hand that made us divine’.
