What: Jazz Summer Workshop

When: Sunday 18 August 12.30-6.30pm – Save the date!

Where: Malinowa room, Polish Centre, 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 0RF.

Cost: £15 (one fee covers one or both sessions).

Session 1: 12.30 – 3.30 Come and Sing (ALL welcome)
Session 2: 4.00 – 6.30 Jazz improvisation and ensemble singing (for Addison members only)

Two sessions to be led by Jill Jarman, Musical Director, Jazz.

Session 1. Come and Sing workshop
12.30 – 3.30 Sunday 18 August

This session is for all singers, friends, family and new people who want to give it a try.
Includes a 30 min afternoon tea break – please use the POSK café or bring your own refreshments.

This Come and Sing workshop will cover:
• some well-known jazz songs for a ‘sing-along’.
• some part singing
• basic reading music skills to allow singers to follow written music more easily

Session 2. Jazz improvisation and ensemble jazz singing session
4.00 – 6.30 Sunday 18 August

This session 2 is strictly for Addison members. It’s for the Jazz Ensemble and any more advanced singers from the Addison groups. Attendees will need medium music reading ability. Includes a 15-minute tea break – please bring your own refreshments.

This singing session will cover: 
• learning to improvise
• jazz styles (New Orleans, Swing, Latin) and how to approach them as an ensemble.
