‘Here, There and Everywhere’ Concert on 2 July 2016

The Addison Chamber Choir and Jazz Ensemble join forces for a programme on the theme Here, There and Everywhere, taking a musical journey across Europe, the United States and the British Isles. The two groups will combine to sing the eponymous song by the Beatles and Kodaly’s Evening Song, and choral numbers will be interspersed with piano duets performed by guest pianist Joanna Korzinek and the evening’s conductor, Matthew Hough.Enjoying a visit to mainland Europe, the Chamber Choir will perform Sieber’s lively and witty Three Hungarian Songs; the Jazz Ensemble will tantalise with the seductive Girl from Ipanema and wistful  Norwegian Wood; and the piano duettists will sparkle with one of Manuel de Falla’s Danses Espagnoles.

Whether by air (Come Fly with Me) or land (Take the A Train), the Jazz Ensemble will transport the audience on a Sentimental Journey to the USA, to the heartlands of jazz, soul and blues (cue Basin Street Blues).

England, Ireland and Scotland are represented by the Irish song She Moved Through the Fair and the Northumbrian air Keel Row; Vaughan Williams’ stylish English folk songs; jazzy versions of A Foggy Day in London Town and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square; and Bob Chilcott’s esoteric arrangements of Upon Westminster Bridge, Danny Boy and The Skye Boat Song.

Here, There & Everywhere promises to be an evening of musical variety and diversity.

This event takes place at St Andrew’s Church, Fulham Fields, on Saturday 2 July, starting at 7.30pm.
