Classical Summer 2023 Concert: Serenade to Summer

8 July @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Serenade to Summer

Saturday 8 July at 7.30
St Peter’s Church, Southfield Road, W4 1BB

Bus E3 stops right at the door

The Addison Singers Classical Choirs return in their second performance of 2023 with a feast of music reflecting on the summer season both in the town and country. The Chamber Choir will present two short choral cycles both of which reflect on the rose and its wider symbolism. We look forward to the ravishing harmonies in Mealor’s Now sleeps the Crimson Petal and the radiant Les Chansons des Roses by Morten Lauridsen.

The Oratorio Choir will present a wide-ranging tour of pastoral and urban scenes in Bob Chilcott’s Songs and Cries of London Town and Cecilia McDowall’s light-hearted A Fancy of Folksongs. We shall also perform Vaughan Williams famous Serenade to Music which will feature soloists from within the choir and showcase our rich tutti choral sound.

Matthew Hough will perform Chopin’s Nocturne in C minor (Op. 48, No. 1) and Poulenc’s Nocturne (No. 4 Bal fantôme). There may be one or two other surprises in the programme too!
