St Peter’s Church, Southfield Road, W4 1BB
The Addison Singers concert on November 26th will see their last performance under David Wordsworth, who has been Music Director of the organisation for over 26 years.
The programme will include the world premiere of a substantial new work by Master of the King’s Music, Judith Weir, especially written for the occasion, ‘O sweet spontaneous earth’, as well as music by Gavin Bryars, Bob Chilcott, Cecilia McDowall, Howard Skempton and Howard Goodall, composers that have been associated with the Addison choirs for many years. The choirs’ Assistant Music Director Matthew Hough will be the soloist in Finzi’s beautiful ‘Eclogue’ for piano & strings, and to end the evening, four young soloists, and the Brandenburg Sinfonia, join both the Oratorio and Chamber Choirs for Haydn’s uplifting ‘Nelson Mass’.
Both classical choirs:
Judith Weir – O sweet, spontaneous earth (world premiere)
Purcell/Bryars – Dido’s Lament
Pachelbel/Chilcott – Canon (Rosa Mystica)
Howard Skempton – He wishes for the cloths of Heaven
Cecilia McDowall – Regina Caeli
Wood – Hail Gladdening Light
Both classical choirs & orchestra:
Howard Goodall – Two movements from ‘Eternal Light’
Haydn – Nelson Mass
